The Joys of JOIA: The 101 on Iberostar’s Newest Resort Category

Iberostar Beachfront Resorts is a brand whose name carries weight across the world. With over a hundred four- and five-star properties scattered throughout the Americas, including the Caribbean, as well as in Europe and Africa, plus a tourism industry-leading commitment to the environment and sustainability, it’s a brand travelers can feel good about trusting. And like nature itself, it’s a brand that’s ever-evolving to be better at its purpose … hence the 2024 update of their collection of beachfront resorts.

Here are some fast facts to help you understand what the new brand segments stand for … including how JOIA, the new premium category, stands out in the industry, particularly with the Aruba property recently featured on the ALG Vacations® Pros in Paradise FAM trip and Jacki Marks and Carson Kressley Facebook Live.

Ways to Vacation with Iberostar

The Iberostar Beachfront Resorts portfolio is now formally categorized within three collections. The entry level are the Iberostar Waves Hotels, a fun, playful and reassuring brand for young families and active beach-bound couples. Delivering high value and a casual, relaxed style of travel, these four- and five-star resorts offer plenty of activities for energetic travelers who like to stay on the move.

The next tier is Iberostar Selection, which brings the vibe down to a bit more of a relaxed one, supported by a more upscale, elevated, and premium environment and amenities. Families and couples looking for some decompression and to uplift their spirits will find their match in this collection.

Finally, JOIA by Iberostar, the premier collection of five-star resorts only, set on the best beachfront locations available in Iberostar’s portfolio of properties.

What Sets Apart JOIA by Iberostar

Personalized Service

This feature is the hallmark of the new JOIA brand, and it’s emphasized emphatically. Their goal is to reach “sensational” through service so impeccable that it provides a genuine sense of awe. This means anticipating guest needs before they’re even asked, creating bespoke experiences around those needs and preferences as they’re discovered along the vacation, and an intimate, personal approach to providing memorable moments.

Luxury

Fantastic service is the key to luxury, but the surroundings within which said service is provided is equally important. For that, obviously, the privileged oceanfront locales help. But JOIA enhances these attributes with grand-scale, awe-inspiring crafted details, such as with dramatically designed lobbies and entranceways for a “wow sense of arrival.” This is extended to the spacious pools found on the properties, and the meticulously maintained beachfronts.

Sanctuary Suites

JOIA suites are also dressed to impress, with spacious terraces, seating areas, roomy bathrooms, and organic toiletries. Plush bedding with fine European linens, a pillow menu, bathrobes for use during one’s stay, rainfall showerheads, double vanity sinks, and elevated room categories make a stay even more serene. For example, swim-up access to semi-private pools, outdoor whirlpool tubs, ocean views, hammocks, upgraded deck furniture, and more.

Extra Room Service(s)

Guests staying at JOIA by Iberostar resorts get more with their suites than just a room. Nightly turndown  with aromatherapy, 24-hour room service, complimentary access to SPA Sensations wet areas, and regularly replenished personalized upgraded mini-bars are among the extras that come with most JOIA stays. For many room categories, even butler service is available! And to allow guests to breathe easy and live well, all of the JOIA properties are smoke-free and free of single-use plastics.

Dress Up for Dinner

Most folks don’t get as many opportunities to dress up anymore on vacation as we’d like, despite the fact that every moment is now a photo opp. But at JOIA resorts, a gala night each week gives guests a chance to feel part of something special while they enjoy what the brand calls “Honest Food” – flavorful, high-quality dishes served with care, using fresh, locally sourced ingredients and sustainably caught seafood. Of course, this principle applies to all of the buffets and à la carte restaurants across the brand, where every meal is a chance to celebrate great food.

JOIA Aruba

The newest property to join the brand and a built-from-the-ground-up JOIA resort, JOIA Aruba is Iberostar’s first foray into that island. And it’s a unique one, too – European Plan to allow freedom to enjoy the many dining options across the island as well as on the resort, and one of the only new constructions to join the Eagle Beach landscape. There, right on the beach, guests can enjoy amenities like service via Segway and a stunning spa with a glass-enclosed hydrotherapy area and seven relaxation areas with different ambiances.

For accommodations, there are 240 suites in 15 categories, which includes swim-outs with semi-private pools. All are designed to showcase the beach itself, thanks to the U-shaped layout of the buildings, which also contain three restaurants and four bars. The headliners for these outlets include the rooftop Zima bar and the Bucatini Market & Cocina buffet restaurant, which serves Italian-style dishes. All are open to the public – another unique feature of this property!

Finally, a state-of-the-art 10,000-square-foot convention center also makes it a fantastic new option in Aruba for professional gatherings … just keep them away from the modern casino on site! But do schedule a golf outing for valuable networking time. This hotel is close to Tierra del Sol, a golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones II and is the island’s only 18-hole championship course, yet suitable for players of all levels.
